For plumbers

Quoted the boiler.
Took the deposit.
Started Monday.

WorkPaid is the quote-to-paid app built for UK plumbers. Boiler swaps, emergency call-outs, bathroom installs - deposit before you turn up, stage payments through the job, final payment without chasing.

No card to start. 2.5% per paid quote, capped at £500.

The plumber's three least-favourite phrases

"Cheque's in the post."

You swapped the boiler on Tuesday. It's Friday. You're £2,500 down on parts and labour and the customer's "just waiting for payday."

"Can you start now?"

Saturday emergency call-out. They want the leak fixed before the carpet's ruined. You quote a fair price. After the work's done, they "haven't got cash on them."

"Bit more expensive than I thought."

The bathroom install came in at £4,800. Quote was accepted verbally. Two weeks later you're chasing a balance that's somehow shrunk by £400.

Get paid before the kettle goes on

Three things WorkPaid does that a WhatsApp quote can't.

1

Deposit before parts

Quote the boiler swap. Customer opens the link and pays a 20-50% deposit by card (Apple Pay and Google Pay included) or straight from their bank. Money's in your bank account before you order the cylinder - Instant Payouts can land it in about 30 minutes for a 1% fee, or free on the standard 1-2 working day schedule. Their commitment funds your parts list - no fronting £2k of materials on hope.

2

One link, no app for the customer

Send the quote by WhatsApp, SMS, or email. The customer taps the link, sees the price, taps Pay. No signup, no app download, no Stripe-account-for-them. Works on whatever phone they've got, even if it's nine years old.

3

Auto-invoice on final payment

When the balance lands, an HMRC-clean invoice is generated automatically. Quarterly CSV export ready for FreeAgent, Xero, or your accountant - so MTD (the £50k tier went live April 2026) is one less thing to worry about.

Built around how plumbers actually work

Boiler swaps

£2-4k typical, 50% deposit covers the boiler + parts before you order. Balance on commissioning.

Emergency leak repairs

Send the quote from the van. Deposit clears in 2 minutes on their phone. Start the fix knowing you'll be paid.

Bathroom installs

Multi-stage payments built in - deposit, mid-job, final on snagging. No spreadsheet, no chasing.

Central heating systems

Big-ticket work that justifies a written quote. Customer sees a professional doc, not a WhatsApp screenshot.

Questions plumbers ask

Will my customers actually pay a deposit? +

The ones who don't want to pay a deposit are usually the ones who don't want to pay full-stop. Asking for a deposit pre-filters time-wasters. Most domestic customers understand a £200 deposit on a £2k job - it's the same model a plumbing-supplies merchant uses on a special order.

What about emergency call-outs at 11pm? +

Build the quote on your phone in 30 seconds, send the link, wait for the deposit, then start work. The customer's far more likely to commit at 11pm with water hitting the floor than they are at 11am the next day. Use the urgency, don't get burned by it.

Do customers need to download anything? +

No. They get a link, open it in whatever browser they've got, tap Pay. The payment goes through Stripe (the same system Uber and Deliveroo use) - by card, or straight from their bank. No app, no account, no faff.

What's the fee? +

2.5% per paid quote, capped at £500 per quote. On a £3,000 boiler swap that's £75. Absorb it and the customer pays exactly what you quoted. Or flip the toggle to pass the 2.5% on - the customer just sees one clear all-in price (around £3,075) and you net your full £3,000. Processing comes out of your payment like any card machine, and it's cheaper when they pay bank-to-bank - capped at £5, with no chargebacks.

Quote sent. Deposit in. Start work.

No monthly fee. No card needed to sign up.
